Wednesday was Wednesday but yesterday was also Wednesday (I have no idea about today)

czarinamisha

So my friend Shaina did visit. She came Wednesday afternoon. The first Wednesday of this week. We drove a couple of hours (always fun after a three-hour drive) to Cumberland Falls for moonbow.

(wow, autocorrect really does not like “moonbow”. to the extent that it is trying to replace “moonbow” with “moonnow” which it then underlines because “moonnow” is not a real word.)

Moonbow was cool. I’ve been to Cumberland Falls at least a dozen times. (And Lake Cumberland, which is not at all near the falls. Just a heads up if you plan a Kentucky vacation.) Cumberland Falls was a regular summer vacation when I was a kid. But this was my first moonbow.

Moonbow is the super crowded time at the falls (I’m tired of typing “Cumberland”). I hoped that the middle of the week wouldn’t be so bad even during the summer. I was wrong. Or more likely I was right and moonbow is normally ten times worse.

Please please please read at least basic info about a place or event before you go. Then you won’t take a dozen pics with flash, look through them and realize they’re all crap, take a dozen, repeat, repeat. You end up frustrated deleting overexposed pics and you piss off the people around you who did read best photo practices so aren’t using flash but their pics are also sucky overexposed messes because of you.

Oh, and if shining a flashlight across the falls would make the moonbow happen faster or better, the state park people would already have such a light set up in exactly the right spot and on a programmed timer.

I told myself I wouldn’t just rant about people at the falls. Again I was mistaken.

Moonbow is cool. Do visit Kentucky and check it out. This is not a paid endorsement. In fact, ask you to avoid the Kentucky State Parks official website until they fix an unfortunate font issue. (The lower case i’s in the menu subheadings look like lower case l’s. So you get options for “TraIls” and “SwImmIng”. It’s embarrassing, Kentucky.)

So that was Wednesday. We got back to my house about 1:30 am. My wee demon cat tore down half of the living room curtains because she was so excited we were home. Or because there was a bug at the top of the window. Hard to know which.

And when I finally woke up yesterday I thought it was Wednesday. I’d look at my summer reading points and know it wasn’t really so high because there’s been a weird issue with the program and Stacy just hadn’t corrected my points yet because Wednesday is her day off.

Shaina left today. I need to mow the front yard and move some blackout curtains from the back of the house to the front window. (Torii pulled much of the curtain rod hardware down, too, and broke a rod.) And there’s more to clean and organize. But here I sit on the (old) couch, putting off until tomorrow what could be done today. Tomorrow is Wednesday, right?
