I don’t know how to explain today. I hate “spring forward” daylight savings steal-an-hour-for-no-d*mned-reason day. I hate waking up, setting the clock forward, and feeling behind for the rest of the day.
But today had been the longest daylight savings switch day ever. It should be in the Guinness Book. It’s that flippin’ long.
The local furniture store called Saturday. They finally received the second part of my sectional and will deliver the complete couch to me on Tuesday. So last night and today was all about getting the living room ready for the new couch.
Did you know Scotch Guard is very difficult to find? Last night’s contribution to Project: Couch was shopping. Felt thingies for the bottoms of the couch legs. Stuff to fix the hole Torii made in the wall tearing down the drapes + curtain rod. Scotch Guard. Except, no Scotch Guard, at Kroger or Walmart. It was too late for Lowe’s but that’s next.
Today was — everything else. Fixed the hole. Took down the old sheet’s. Put up the new sheers. Fixed the wonky holder for the sheers rod. Moved the desk, the old couch, the table, the other table. So much moving.
Since the furniture store called on Saturday, I haven’t been able to schedule pickup for the old couch with the new trash company. So I propped it at a tilt with the top against the mantle. This let me get the legs off. And surely the wee demon can’t scale that and oh bugger . . .
So I actually managed to upend it.
It’s awkward, of course, but not in the way of Tuesday’s new couch. And then . . .
I was trying to help Bestie find 130” zipper to replace the one mangled by her (not so wee) demon pet. And I looked up from my phone.
F*<#!
Please note: if I stand on my tippytoes I can just get my fingertips onto the top of the back there. I can’t reach the area she’s standing on in this pic at all.
Finally she is down (and immediately gets on the stovetop to check out my roasted corn just out of the oven). I drop the couch back to horizontal. And since then it’s been cooking and laundry and neverending yelling at Torii.
Somehow it is finally dark out (8:00 pm). I feel like I have been awake for days. I whimper when I stand up. Several muscles and tendons in my right arm are screaming at me.
So good night from me and Torii (pictured here in her non-demonic form, snuggled against my legs under the duvet).
