8:40 am. Sunday. I’m done. I’m back in a nightgown.
I woke up too early from a wacky dream where Bestie and I were up to our usual Lucy&Ethel shenanigans. I don’t remember many details — just a building.
Well, “building.” Edifice is probably more correct as building implies fully-enclosed in four (or more) walls. This only had three walls with the area for a fourth wall open space like a set. It was all outside. The walls, two sides maybe 6’ long at most with a very wide back. All were very very tall, rough stone up to maybe 5’ then huge cathedral windows that had to have been at least two stories tall in thin black wood or metal frames. No roof.
This edifice belonged to Bestie. Which was of course completely normal in the dream. I’d thought about getting one etc etc.
It was along one of the side streets I take to get to my brother’s house. Bestie and my brother live in different cities about 120 miles apart. Their neighborhoods do not look alike, or were even built in the same era.
The big back window had come open. (It was hinged like a door.) It was a big deal, tho I don’t know why as the edifice was basically a very fancy tho roofless bus stop. There was something with a pet — maybe it opened the window, maybe it got “out” through the window.
Then Bestie had to stand on my shoulders. It wasn’t to close the window because that required some guy with a special tool. We were waiting for the guy in a small parking lot across the street. And Bestie climbed onto a stone retaining wall and from there onto my shoulders.
I am larger — height and weight — than Bestie but there’s no way I’m strong enough to support her. She’s still a grown woman.
This is when I woke up — just as Bestie was getting onto my shoulders. I assume my brain, having gotten me into this mess, realized I was about to die in a dream. I don’t know if you die in reality when you die in a dream. I’m glad my brain didn’t test it this morning.
So after some piddling around I went to the store because I couldn’t make myself do it Friday morning. Just basics. Truly. Bread, butter, crackers, cereal. I wanted a veggie, broccoli or green beans, but . . . I’ll just say there’s a reason this chain has only animated commercials for its produce. I also wanted Splenda (not a paid endorsement just personal preference) but there were bags of powdered sugar in the Splenda spot which is the sort of thing this chain does when they’re out of stock but don’t want customers to see empty shelves.
8:30 am is the new 2:30 pm at this store. So there were lines at all (three) open checkouts. I queued and finally got an open self-check and made sure I scanned my loyalty card first because the proper ordering of steps recently changed (no notice to customers of course) and it’s a hassle to get the sale prices if you don’t do it just right.
Maybe I’ll post about loyalty cards. I’ll make sure there’s a profanity warning for sensitive readers.
And I didn’t have my wallet. I thought about asking the cashier if I could leave my cart off to the side while I ran home for my wallet. But she was involved in a tax exempt nightmare of two carts full of drinks and snacks for a church event and I really didn’t want to come back. So I just left my cart and came home.
My brain and I clearly are not in tandem today.
Like I said, I’m back in sleepwear and on the couch and I. AM. DONE.
