Trigger warning: I mention an earworm that's been driving me batty

czarinamisha

Better, but not great. I'm not too brilliant today. Barely lucid, in all honesty. So here's some of today's random thoughts & deeds:

  1. I figured out what to do with a couple of pieces of furniture I haven't been able to sort out. It's brilliant (see paragraph 1, sentence 2 disclaimer above)! I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner! The other house needs furniture. What other house, you ask. Good question, a question I asked myself when I remembered this great revelation. And that's when I realized my furniture solution came to me in a dream -- a dream in which I have a spare house, or at least an extra building, on my property.

  2. This was, of course, after I woke up. At 8:23. In a panic because the alarm didn't chime did I forget to turn it on or did I accidentally turn it off when I woke up at 2am and it doesn't matter because I really have to be backing out of my driveway by 8:25 or I'm late to work should I text Rachael or the boss or wait until I'm actually leaving panic! I walked through it in my head while brushing my teeth and while it is true I need to be on the road by 8:25 at the latest, that's only if I'm scheduled to open at 9:30. I was scheduled for 10 today which meant I needed to be driving by 8:55 which gave me 30 minutes to get ready. So still some minor panic, but not really a big deal.

  3. I felt okay until the car was actually moving. Then I spent about 20 minutes driving with almost a mild case of vertigo. I didn't exactly feel like vomiting and I was pretty sure I wouldn't, but the asphalt seemed to tilt under me in odd ways and I only felt better when I closed my eyes which really isn't recommended when driving on an interstate.

  4. I don't blame you if you stop reading here. It's really just downhill. No, this isn't actually part of the numbered list of today's thoughts; I just didn't want to fool with an aside outside the numbered list then getting back into the numbered list which probably isn't possible anyway. Seriously, go on and check out some online comix or a woodcarving vlog or whatever.

  5. It was crazy busy the first two hours I was on the desk because of course it was. So many people asked so many questions. I scheduled someone for a story time next week and that was a full-on comedy of errors between my limited functioning today and our obnoxious event scheduling system.

  6. I called the exterminator. It was almost a "Who's on First?" experience, except not even remotely funny even tho we laughed. I said I was off work this Friday and then Monday and Tuesday next week (it's Wednesday, efwhyeye). The scheduler said she had a guy who'd be in my town tomorrow and to expect him 10:00-12:00. I said wait no not tomorrow I need Friday or early next week. And she checked and said yes of course she meant Friday and tomorrow isn't Friday ha ha. Then we went through it again confirming the appointment.

  7. I wrote down everything I ate and drank on Monday to compare against future abdo-gastro-intestinal (aka AGI) attacks. This is my one bit of cleverness today. I'm really impressed with my brain for coming up with it.

  8. Annnnnd . . . something else. That I forgot. But then remembered as I was adding the tags. And forgot again. Look, I'll just have to add it later, so watch for updates. Unless I remember while I'm driving but forget again once I'm home. Which is definitely a possibility with the way this whole day is going. Wait. No, never mind. Still no clue.

If you wondered when I'd get to the earworm in today's title, that's the next paragraph. (Did you even remember? Did you notice the title at all? Am I wasting my breath here?) So this is your last chance to walk away. Do not come whining to me if this song plays on an endless loop in your head, too.

Totally unrelated but I've had an annoying late-70s easy/pop/country song stuck in my head for days. Every time there's a quiet moment in my brain I hear, "Hey, won't ya play another somebody done somebody wrong song." I heard it flipping radio stations one night and it was playing at the grocery store on Friday.
