Thought = Excuse

It's Saturday (Christmas Eve!) which means I missed yesterday's Deep Thoughts Fridays. I only one Deep Thought, more or less one thought really. My ISP, I'll call it Rectum shall I, was not prepared for a long holiday weekend or severe weather, and definitely not severe weather over a long holiday weekend. I say this because the whole neighborhood is online -- judging by the list of wifi networks available in range of my couch -- and I can barely get onto streaming and it keeps buffering. Rectum seems to think bandwidth that's adequate for any mid-week mid-morning will be fine at 0F (our high temp yesterday) with a layer of ice under a few inches of snow at Christmas. This area is lucky; we haven't lost electricity yet (altho there's plans for overnight rolling blackouts by the electric company which totally makes sense since we're looking at a low of balmy 8F). So everyone is online, or trying to be.

I think this also pretty well explains why I didn't post my Deep Thought yesterday.

The furnace is working hard, but it is working. My hvac people are good. I maybe have a pipe trying its darnedest to freeze, but I'm doing my darnedest to keep the water in liquid state and flowing. I'm winning so far. Of course it's the toilet, so it's not like I can just turn it off and not use it until we're back into the 50s next week. I've got a space heater doing all it can. I'll add some blankets tonight.

Happy holidays (all of them now and through the year, which incidentally is how the phrase was used in the song "Happy Holidays" written and recorded in 1942 so don't troll me for being anti-Christian).
