TGIS: the sequel

Some follow-up thoughts to yesterday's post, Thank God It's Sunday.

First, it is Monday now. (I believe honesty and accuracy are so important if this blogger-reader relationship is going to work.) And it's very much a Monday. I've been writing this post all day in my head; let's see if I remember any of it.

Second, about my issue with our secondhand weather from Chicago. Kentucky is more or less a southern state. It's not as straightforward as, say, Mississippi (thank god), but we've got most in common with Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina (and Ohio and Indiana, but I'm ignoring them for now). So, southern. And then with almost no warning we get these Canadian cold snaps blowing down through Chicago and the great lakes and pow we have overnight lows in the 20s. In November. And as much as we hate the cold, we know soon enough a low front from Georgia and the Carolinas will push through and run smack dab into the Chicago chill until we have a pre-Christmas tornado with a high in the low 70s (which will probably drop again into freezing rain at 4:00 am).

Imagine that, actually. Forever trapped halfway between Chicago and Georgia. Geographically, meteorologically, culturally, linguistically, and historically. That's us. That's the Bluegrass.

But most importantly, yesterday I realized that with the holiday closings and my float day off (since one of the holiday closings is my usual day off abd if I don't take a bonus day off I'd be paid for working four days plus the two closed days which can never ever happen when you work for what is more or less a lical government agency) I only work Monday and Tuesday and then three days off in a row. Well, I did realize it earlier and understood that it meant I only needed to cook enough chicken and rice for two lunches. But the great epiphany was seeing how it also meant I didn't need to do laundry as per usual for Sunday. It could wait for one of those three off days.

It's like I won the flippin' lottery, y'all.

So I spent a Sunday reading (finished a mystery short story collection). Working crosswords. Watching tv (comedians discussing their fave Monty Python sketches). I even started a little on the cleaning project I've promised myself I would do over Thanksgiving. And I did my exercise bike time. I listened to one of my guided meditations while pedaling which was just as odd as it sounds but what the hey.

So with Saturday's bike time and then yesterday's and this morning's I'm on a three-day streak.

And I still have enough clean underwear for a few more days.

Yeah, okay, I think that's everything I planned to write. I covered all of the traditional RandomlyMisha topics: Kentucky weather and why it sucks, wellness, and laundry.

I may not have much to blog as I lan to be duller than usual this week. So if you're traveling for Thanksgiving than drive safely and assume all of the other drivers around you are in the middle of a meth-coke-acid trip. You can't blame them; they've been with relatives all days. Just give them plenty of space on the road.
