Of mice and mold

The exterminator came today to begin the rodent removal process. As I lead him through the basement, we saw, in the far back crannies where I never go, mold. So I also contacted a mold clean-up guy (what do you call that profession?), who also came today.

The mold looks like it’s all over a couple of walls, but mister mold (seriously, there has to be a real word for this) said it wasn’t too bad yet. And he figured out what’s been causing the dampness that brought the mold. And at least that hasn’t caused structural problems yet.

So while I started down the homeowners death spiral, I stopped before it got completely out of hand.

It’s still tempting to torch it all and start fresh.

Except it just started raining. Again. (Also hailing, but I don’t think that affects flammability.) Probably nothing would really burn.

I actually did some of what I planned to do today, so that’s something.
