I still haven't received information about the bank dispute. Customer service can see the dispute has been initiated, but for more info I need to call Disputes, which is the group who promised 1) I would receive via mail (because they can't e-mail it) details of the dispute process, and 2) the money would be returned to my account while the dispute is being investigated. So I'm in no rush to get more lies from the lying liars.
Ahem. Sorry there.
My inability to buy groceries while $250 is AWOL lead to snarky comments -- from me directed at the bank and it's self-congratulatory back-patting about doing so much to help food insecurity. But the library director bought (personally, not using library funds) pizza lunch for our admittedly small staff yesterday. And it was delish. A mysterious benefactor gave all of the library staff $20 gift cards to a local cafe. So I bought three sandwiches which will be my lunches for the rest of this week. Then I get paid on Friday, and while the vast majority of the money is earmarked for paying bills, I should be able to buy bread and lettuce and other basics. And even a few dollars for the local food bank. Because I got a break when very few people do.
I wish everyone who doesn't know how they will feed their children or themselves could have unexpected relief like this. I wish corporations (like banks) could understand how their policies contribute far more to food insecurity than well-intentioned staff could ever raise to combat it. Seriously, stop being d^cks for five minutes and see how much the quality of life improves across America.
