First, I missed another day posting. Sorry. Again. I was reading after supper and got super sleepy but I knew I shouldn't lie down because it's bad for digestion and I have enough undiagnosed GI issues at the moment thank you, and also I would actually fall asleep if I got that comfy. So I just closed my eyes but I was still sitting up. But I kinda knew at some point I had gone a bit prone. And I finally fought myself back up thinking it was maybe 10:30 or even closeto 11:00, but no. It was 12:51 am which def seemed like bedtime.
It's almost twelve hours later and I'm ready for bed again.
I have been up and accomplishing sh*t. I've even mulched most of the leaves. Usually it's really too wet to mulch and I end up have to rake more than I like (I prefer absolute zero raking so it really isn't hard to pass my threshold). Usually I'm just praying the freezing rain/sleet holds off until I finish or at least really close to the end. In the twenty-one years I've owned this house and its maple tree, this is the first time I needed to get out and clear leaves by whatever means before it gets too hot out.
Seriously.
High of 76F. Highs in the low- to mid-70s all next week. wtf?!
Now it's lunchtime. I'm a big fan of lunchtime. But I kind of thought I maybe, well not exactly smelled but just sensed in general something after I baked a flatbread for breakfast. I know I've been in a house with a gas leak and never smelled it, which makes me really nervous sometimes. So maybe there's a gas leak but I know probably there isn't. I have the front door so it's just the screen protecting me from all the evils of a quiet old neighborhood in the middle of the day. But still, now I'm afraid to use the stove. I can have cheese and crackers now, but I'll have to cook again eventually.
I need to google how to test for a gas leak if you can't smell the chemical they put in natural gas so people can smell it (because natural gas is odorless on its own).
p.s. I had, well I listened, to a long rambling conversation from a payron about how his calendar was printed wrong because it says daylight savings time ends this weekend, and how can it end when it hasn't even started, and his buddy's calendar has the same thing. I finally got to speak when he had to gulp in air because he'd done his whole thing on one breath, so I was finally able to tell him that daylight savings starts in speing and ends in fall, so no, all of the calendars are not printed wrong. He voted on his way out.
UPDATE
p.p.s. I read a lot of gas leak safety tips on a lot of gas company websites. I concluded I do sorta kinda maybe smell something tho definitely not "rotten eggs" and maybe it's just an extra weird litter box smell; I do not hear hissing. I concluded, I just don't know. I rinsed my plate from lunch and sniffed all around the stove and became even less sure what I smelled and if I smelled anything.
And I noticed somehow one of the burner knobs was turned just a bit. (Y'all understand that somehow and someone mean the cat did it, don't you?) So I'm going to leave the screen door as is for a bit longer. I think I'll set the back screen door, too. I'm pretty confident that nothing will explode if I cook supper this evening.
