It’s a new post. The same as the old post.

I haven’t posted for a few days because I gave up negativity for Lent. No really. Or, not exactly.

I decided it’s too easy, at least for my brain, to grab onto the bad things from the day and toss them out into the light just ad I’m falling asleep. If there aren’t any really juicy lows from the day, it will rummage through the dumpsters to find something super upsetting from two years ago. Or forty-two years ago.

So this year for Lent I’m trying to focus on at least one nice thing, one positive of the day. And hold onto that thought as I drift off.

I really want to focus on small kindnesses done to me or that I witness between others. A reminder, in the midst of less-than-peaceful anti-vax protests and the Russian invasion of Ukraine and just general assholishness, that every once in awhile, people don’t totally suck.

Three days into Lent and I’ve had to drag my brain out of that dumpster too many times. I can think of the good things when reviewing the day. But as soon as I lose focus, it’s middle school trauma revival night.

I toyed with posting my good vibe for the day just before bed each night, but they’re really boring to read. But I don’t want to just bitch here.

Which I have said before.

So I guess I’ll just keeping posing sporadically, as usual, random pointless shit which is neither good nor bad.

p.s. Today’s special weather alert is fire. Seriously. It’s windy. Excessively so. Again. But dry with lower than norm humidity and higher than norm temps, so the National Weather Service warns central Kentuckians against burning things.

Not an actual forest fire warning, tho. Because the ground, plants, etc are still super damp from last week’s heavy rain and flash flood warnings.

So my question is: Is NOOA trying to make itself seem really important by issuing hazardous weather alerts and warnings for everything now? Or does Mother Nature have special beef with Kentucky?
