I'll send you cards & letters

I've struggled the last several days. I expect to continue struggling for many many more. But I posted several things about really really bad days in the past and then just poofed. I apologize. I've had friends and acquaintances do that to me and I know how scary it is. I didn't mean to leave you wondering if there will ever be another Randomly Misha. If there is still even a Misha.

The title of this post comes from "Drunken Boat" by The Pogues. The full line is, "I'll send you cards and letters so you'll know that I'm not dead." So I'll try to post a little something every day. Or most days. Just so you know.

It's not Throwback Thursday, but here's a vacation pic I took maybe fifteen years ago at the Nubian Museum in Aswan, Egypt.

I'm sorry she was taken from her grave, but I'm also glad her bones were saved when they dammed the Nile. And that, in displaying her in the museum, they took care to recreate her grave.

I just took this from my Facebook page, so I don't have my notes. But I think her skull shows signs of a successful trepanation.

And, yes, I know a skeleton is an odd vacay pic. A) Nubian Museum was super nifty. I don't think we (Americans) really study much BCE African history and culture other than a quickie overview of Egypt. B) It was a trip to Cairo with a Nile cruise. Pretty much all of my pics were skeletons, mummified skeletons, tombs, and sand. C) Yeah, I somehow come home from every vacation with skeleton pics. Seriously. I have pics of mummies from Aruba. Because people lived places and did shit in this world before Carnival Cruise and Holiday Inn discovered places.

p.s. Today I went through and watermarked almost all of the pics posted in this blog. Not because I think anyone is trying to use my stuff without crediting me. Nobody comes to this blog which pretty much guarantees the security of my stuff. It just gave me something to do when I can't be in my own head any longer.
