hey, wix, it’s me, misha

Soooo . . . It’s been awhile. It’s totally me, not you. I take full responsibility for flaking. I do check in every week to look at analytics, but that’s only because it seems like if I only open wix once a month I’ve been logged out and then I have to enter my password. I know my password. It’s just really long. So many chances for typos. It’s a whole ordeal.

Anyway. I haven’t completely ghosted you. I just haven’t posted in, I wanna say 6-ish months, but who knows.

Torii’s badkittiness has really improved. Thanks for asking. The demon still avoids pooping in the litter box. Really she avoids pooping in general until her wee colon is so full she has no choice. But the rogue peeing is a thing of the past. I visited friends week before last. She survived two nights without me without resorting to peeing on the bed or couch or anyplace else illegal.

(Oooh, I typed asterisks before and after “without” and wix automatically italicized it. Fancy.)

I bought another skeleton. Bryher. I’ve been pronouncing it brEr (rhymes with dear), but I also like brAr (rhymes with flair). I found a rowing competition video and Bryher is actually more like brI-er (rhymes with ice cream brand Breyer). I’m pretty sure my pronunciation of Uley does not match the actual barrow site, so there’s definitely precedent for me doing whatever. Anyway, Bryher, like Uley, is named for an ancient grave in the British Isles. Look up Bryher, Cornwall, if you’re interested.

It’s Sunday. I called in sick yesterday because allergies are extra extra bad even by Bluegrass standards this year. I still have the headache, but my left eye isn’t trying to pop out of my skull (good riddance I say at this point), so I’m trying to do stuff. I’m in a sitting stage of clean, sit, repeat. And for whatever reason my brain wanted to post.

Even tho I clearly have nothing profound, or even sort of interesting to say.

The anxiety struggle is better. There’s a new director (seems ok, but trust is an issue). I’m still looking at other jobs. I’m just not as desperate right now. I feel like I’m doing better keeping my emotions from just going haywire in stressful situations. But maybe I’m better at sidestepping stress.

I would still like to get out. Less commute. Less hours. Less responsibility. (Yes, I know “less” is incorrect with “commute” and “hours”. Just go with it.) I’ve applied for a couple of jobs. Didn’t get either. But I did finally update my resume so it’s more skills-based, (hopefully) less obviously GenX.

I can’t remember what I’ve actually posted about this year. I redid the bathroom back in February and it was an absolute nightmare. If I blogged about then I’m not going to repeat here. And if I didn’t blog then, well, it’s October now and time to move on. It took me a bit after all of that mess but I have crossed a couple of other things off of the project list.

Metaphorically as I can’t find the literal list.

So I have snazzy new circuit breakers in place of the old fuse box — and a really deep rut in the yard where the electric company rep made no effort to drive on the driveway. Then I replaced all four ceiling fans AND had one installed in my bedroom. I think windows are next. Next spring will be professionally landscaping the back yard into a native plants pollinator-friendly garden.

And I’m looking at cars. Yeah, it’s time to retire Zoe the Jetta. And I really I want to buy a new car before I have to replace Zoe’s tires again because tires are f^cking expensive.

So, plans.

I don’t double check my accounts before buying groceries anymore. But I still quietly freak out over spending all of this money.

So that’s where I am.

happy birthday, mom

Today my mom would have turned 84. My brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and I visited her grave for the first time since the funeral. So Kentucky, like many other states not used to serious winter, got
